vår lillia stad 48nn_b.jpg - The stage manager tells us that another nine years have passed and it is now the summer of 1913. The people who have died during those years are seated in three rows of chairs, which represent gravestones. A funeral party is going on in the background. Emily emerges from the back and takes her seat among the dead on an empty chair next to Mrs Gibbs. We are told that she died in her second childbirth. Simon Stimson, the town drunk, also in the front row, hanged himself in his attic.
